El franquismo y la conmemoración a sus caídos (1938-1959)

Abstract

The present work is a study of the cult and of the different commemorations that the Franco regime makes to its fallen after the civil war in Spain. It will be studied through the monuments that were raised throughout the Spanish geography, and the different acts that they were made in memory of the deceased on certain days indicated in the calendar. The press will also be used as a great source of information that will give us invaluable data to understand the entire symbolic universe that will be built around the figure of the fallen. The chronological framework that has been chosen has been from 1938 (since on that date the processing of permits to be able to erect monuments to the deceased begins) until 1959 (which is when the last requests to erect monuments are produced) and the Valley of the Fallen in El Escorial, which was the great project of the Franco regime.

El presente trabajo es un estudio del culto y de las diferentes conmemoraciones que hace el franquismo a sus caídos tras la guerra civil en España, y se estudiará a través de los monumentos que se levantaron por toda la geografía española, y de los diferentes actos que se hicieron en recuerdo de los fallecidos en determinados días señalados en el calendario; y también se utilizará la prensa como una gran fuente de información que nos dará valiosísimos datos para comprender todo el universo simbólico que se construirá en torno a la figura de los caídos. El marco cronológico que se ha escogido ha sido desde 1938, puesto que comienza en esa fecha la tramitación de los permisos para poder erigir monumentos a los fallecidos, y hasta 1959, que es cuando se producen las últimas peticiones para erigir monumentos y se inaugura el Valle de los Caídos en el Escorial, que fue el gran proyecto del régimen franquista.
