Investigación de los posibles prejuicios en torno al suicidio en la Facultad de Educación y Trabajo Social de Valladolid

Abstract

El suicidio y la ideación suicida se han convertido en una problemática social hoy en día. El aumento de los casos de fallecimientos por suicidio e intentos de este, hace que sea necesario centrar la atención en este fenómeno, con el fin de estudiar sus causas para poder prevenirse. Además, es necesario saber la formación con la que cuentan los profesionales de los servicios sociales, en especial los/as futuros/as Educadores/as Sociales. Por ello, el presente trabajo plantea una investigación realizada con 32 personas pertenecientes al alumnado del 4º curso de Educación Social de la UVa, que determine si poseen ciertos mitos respecto al suicidio que les dificulten el desarrollo de una intervención socioeducativa con dicha problemática. También se analizará si el alumnado se muestra conforme con la formación recibida respecto al suicidio, su intervención y prevención, durante su grado universitario. Al finalizar la investigación, se ha observado que la mayoría del alumnado no posee dichos mitos sociales con respecto al suicidio, sino que conoce el criterio científico. A pesar de ello, de igual forma la mayoría del alumnado se muestra inconforme con su formación recibida en materia de salud mental durante el grado universitario.

Suicide and suicidal ideation have become a social problem today. The increase in cases of deaths from suicide and suicide attempts makes it necessary to focus the attention on this phenomenon in order to prevent it. In addition, it is necessary to know about the knowledge of the social service professionals, especially about future Social Educators. For this reason, the present work proposes an investigation carried out with 32 people belonging to the students of 4th year of Social Education of UVa, which determines if they believe in certain myths regarding suicide that make it difficult for them to develop a socio-educational intervention with the said problem. It will also be analyzed if the students are satisfied with the training received regarding suicide, their intervention and prevention, during their university degree. At the end of the investigation, it has been observed that the majority of the students do not believe in these social myths about suicide, but they know about the scientific criteria.Despite this, in the other hand the most part of the students are dissatisfied with the training received in the field of mental health during their university degrees.
