Africanus, el retrato de Escipión en la trilogía de Santiago Posteguillo

Abstract

Este trabajo aborda un estudio que pretende analizar la figura de Publio Cornelio Escipión, Africanus, tal como se describe en las novelas del autor contemporáneo Santiago Posteguillo (1967-). Se ofrece un contraste entre los datos de la figura histórica más los que proceden de los historiadores clásicos Livio y Polibio, con el reflejo de los actos y el carácter del personaje que estudiamos en las novelas históricas de Santiago Posteguilo. Con el conjunto de datos así obtenidos y el análisis de los mismos ha sido posible establecer una comparación entre la diferente forma de concebir al personaje objeto de estudio conforme a las fuentes clásicas y al autor de la novela, mostrando a través de diversos ejemplos el contraste existente entre las tres versiones estudiadas.

This paper addresses a study that aims to analyze the figure of Publius Cornelius Scipio, Africanus, as described in the novels of the contemporary author Santiago Posteguillo (1967-) A contrast is offered between the data of the historical figure plus those that come from the classical historians Livy and Polybius, with the reflection of the acts and the character that we study in the historical novels of Santiago Posteguilo. With the set of data thus obtained and their analysis, it has been possible to establish a comparison between the different way of conceiving the character under study according to the classical sources and the author of the novel, showing through various examples the contrast existing between the three versions studied.
