Purpose: Multifocal contact lens use is not extended in presbyopic population in Spain. The aim of this work is to develop a questionnaire to investigate the reasons of this lack of use among the target population of these contact lenses.
Methods: A bibliographic review was performed in order to analyse the
scientific paper published related to presbyopia and contact lenses, as well as
the design of questionnaires about multifocal contact lenses. With this
information, it was created a group of experts which developed the items to ask
in the questionnaire.
Results: A questionnaire was developed selecting by brainstorming the items that should be present on it. Then, it was held a meeting with a small sample of the target population to take into account their point of view. Finally, the questionnaire was validated following Delphi method.
Conclusions: an 85 items questionnaire has been developed to investigate the reasons why multifocal contact lenses are not used among the presbyopic population.
