Abstract
A great deal of international guidelines regarding language education highlight the need for quality in
foreign language teaching. Hence, we focus our attention on project-based pedagogy as a methodological
option for teachers in achieving such standard of quality. Thus, this article reviews the potential of applying
project-based pedagogy to foreign language teaching, stressing the main elements that characterise it. In
particular, its implications for the foreign language classroom are addressed, as well as suggestions for teaching planning. We conclude the article by providing key points, such as the appropriateness of project-based pedagogy for learning to communicate in a foreign language, or the role that teachers need to adopt.
