Arquitectura, ciudad y noche. Laboratorio de imágenes y sensaciones

Abstract

El proyecto de arquitectura tradicional no se ocupaba de la noche como entorno diferencial. Constituye ésta, sin embargo, el momento en el que la visión de los volúmenes se torna diferente. Esta percepción visual nocturna es fácilmente manipulable y por ello puede resultar una oportunidad para potenciar la proporcionada por el resto de los sentidos, Así, la arquitectura sensorial en este medio adquiere particular relevancia. El tacto, el olfato-gusto, o el oído nos ayudan a entender el entorno al desaparecer el monopolio del sentido de la vista Muchos de los fenómenos que producen cambios en la realidad de la arquitectura son ocasionales (La nieve, la lluvia, la niebla… ) pero la noche se repite insistentemente jornada tras jornada, a veces con más duración que el propio día, por lo que debería ser merecedora de una atención especial. Por otra parte, las nuevas tecnologías y el arte de la luz aplicados a la arquitectura plantean una concepción distinta de ésta, promoviendo, no la simple iluminación de un edificio desde fuera, sino que, invirtiendo el papel, puede ser la arquitectura la que ahora ilumine el entorno, ofreciendo y generando aspectos nuevos de la propia construcción que pueden llegar a ser prioritarios y, en cualquier caso, complementarios. Ambas propuestas, las relacionadas con la imagen y las sensoriales resultan puntuales o experimentales. La pregunta es hasta qué punto el cambio de paradigma puede implementarse en cualquier entorno existente. En este trabajo se realiza un recorrido nocturno por una ciudad actual (Madrid), por diversas áreas de carácterísticas diferenciadas para tratar de proponer o entrever las posibilidades que el proyectar para la noche está ofreciendo ya o podría ofrecer en distintas casuísticas, con la ayuda de la IA, comentando críticamente la conveniencia de creación real o en realidad aumentada

The traditional architecture project did not consider the night as a differential environment. However, it constitutes the moment when the vision of volumes becomes different. This nocturnal visual perception is easily manipulable and therefore can be an opportunity to enhance the one provided by the other senses. Thus, the architecture of the senses in this medio acquires particular relevance. Touch, smell-taste, or hearing help us understand the environment when the monopoly of sight disappears. Many of the phenomena that produce changes in the reality of architecture are occasional (snow, rain, fog…), but the night repeats insistently day after day, sometimes lasting longer than the day itself, so it should deserve special attention. On the other hand, new technologies and the art of light applied to architecture propose a different conception of it, promoting not the simple illumination of a building from the outside, but rather, reversing the role, it can be the architecture that now illuminates the environment, offering and generating new aspects of the construction itself that can become priorities and, in any case, complementary. Both proposals, those related to the image and the sensory ones, are punctual or experimental. The question is to what extent the paradigm shift can be implemented in any existing environment. In this work, a nocturnal tour is carried out through a current city (Madrid), through various areas with differentiated characteristics to try to propose or glimpse the possibilities that projecting for the night is already offering or could offer in different cases, with the help of AI, critically commenting on the convenience of real or augmented reality creation.
