El presente artículo analiza la reconfiguración de dos personajes de la tradición occidental en La acacia de Antonio Gala. Por un lado, se estudia la ninfa-pastora, procedente de la tradición poética románica en general y de la española en particular. Por otro lado, se estudia el hada cruel, procedente de la poesía europea en general y de la poesía inglesa en particular. En el primer caso, se parte del volumen confeccionado por José Lara Garrido (2020) para detectar, en el poema número 2 de La acacia, la mayor parte de las características por él teorizadas. En el segundo caso, se compara este mismo texto con la balada de “La belle dame sans merci” (1819), del poeta romántico inglés John Keats. Así pues, este trabajo se inserta dentro del campo de los estudios concernientes a las relaciones entre la tradición y la modernidad en la lírica española contemporánea, atendiendo a la amplia red de conexiones intertextuales que ofrece la poesía galiana y a las reescrituras del canon fantástico.
This paper analyzes the reconfiguration of two characters from western tradition in Antonio Gala’s La acacia. On the one hand, the nymph-shepherdess is studied, coming from the Romanic poetic tradition in general and the Spanish one in particular. On the other hand, the cruel fairy is studied, coming from European poetry in general and the English one in particular. In the first case, we start from the volume prepared by José Lara Garrido (2020) to detect, in poem number 2 of La acacia, most of the characteristics he theorized. In the second case, this same text is compared with the ballad “La belle dame sans merci” (1819), by the English romantic poet John Keats. Thus, this work is inserted within the field of studies concerning the relationships between tradition and modernity in contemporary Spanish poetry, considering the wide network of intertextual connections offered by Gala’s poetry and the rewritings of the fantastic canon.
