Resumen
The archaeological excavations carried out in Monte Molião, in the Algarve coast, revealed
a sizable number of italic amphorae, related to the beginning of the Roman occupation of
Western Iberia, mostly between the last quarter of the 2nd and 1st century B.C. The italic amphorae
set reveals a preference for the type Dressel 1A, while other types remain almost irrelevant, but still
allows to understand a change of consumption patterns in the site during the roman republican period.
An integrated analysis concerning specific chronological timeframes, its spatial distribution and the
importance played by Italic wine in the consumption patterns of this Portuguese site is now presented.
