Este trabajo presenta una traducción de la epístola 862 de Guarino de Verona, dirigida a
su hijo Niccolò, además de una introducción contextual y un comentario filológico y literario
de la misma. A través del estudio detallado del texto, se examina cómo Guarino
valora el latín clásico frente al latín medieval y la vital importancia para el ideal humanista
de la expansión de la lengua griega en Italia de la mano de Manuel Crisoloras. La carta,
en cierta forma, constituye un pequeño manifiesto del humanismo.
This work presents a translation of Epistle 862 by Guarino of Verona, addressed to his
son Niccolò, along with a contextual introduction and a philological and literary commentary.
Through a detailed study of the text, it examines how Guarino values Classical
Latin over Medieval Latin, as well as the vital importance, for the humanist ideal, of the
spread of the Greek language in Italy through the efforts of Manuel Chrysoloras. In a
certain sense, the letter constitutes a brief manifesto of Humanism.
