Cobertura mediática del crimen: los casos del “violador del ascensor” a través de la prensa

Abstract

En el verano de 1992 se publicó en los medios de comunicación la noticia de una joven de Valladolid que había desaparecido. A los pocos días, se reveló que aquella mujer, Leticia Lebrato, había sido asesinada, y que el autor del delito podía ser un hombre que tenía antecedentes penales. Fue entonces cuando la figura de Pedro Luis Gallego, alias “el violador del ascensor”, se dio a conocer a la ciudadanía. Durante treinta años, Gallego ha estado presente en la prensa española debido a sus entradas y salidas de prisión por la derogación de la doctrina Parot. El objetivo del presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado es analizar el tratamiento mediático que tuvo este suceso en dos momentos: cuando se dio a conocer el caso (1992-1993), y la última vez que Gallego delinquió (2017-2019). Para ello, se analizarán las informaciones publicadas por ABC y El País para averiguar si las piezas tuvieron un enfoque sensacionalista y si el tratamiento de los sucesos ha evolucionado en los últimos treinta años.

In the summer of 1992, the news of a young woman from Valladolid who had dissappeared was published in the media. A few days later, it was revealed that the woman, Leticia Lebrato, had been murdered, and that the perpetrator of the crime could be a man who had a criminal record. It was then that the figure of Pedro Luis Gallego, known as “the elevator rapist,” became known to the public. For thirty years, Gallego has been present in the Spanish press due to his entries and exits from prison for the repeal of the Parot doctrine. The objective of this Final Degree Project is to analyze the media treatment that this event had at two times: when the case was announced (1992-1993), and the last time Gallego committed a crime (2017-2019). To this end, the information published by ABC and El País will be analysed to find out if the pieces had a sensationalist approach and if the treatment of the events has evolved in the last thirty years.
