Vivir en la corte de Isabel la Católica. La Reina y las mujeres de su entorno

Abstract

Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado analiza la imagen de Isabel la Católica como reina, fundamental en la construcción de la monarquía moderna hispánica. Por medio de un camino que abarca desde su infancia, ascenso al trono y desempeño del poder, se remarca su papel en la consolidación de la unidad religiosa y territorial, del Estado, y su influencia en la política exterior mediante alianzas matrimoniales. Se investiga también su vida en la corte, el uso simbólico de la moda como herramienta del poder y el papel de las mujeres que la rodeaban. De la misma forma, se hace hincapié en su faceta como madre y educadora, subrayando su presencia en la formación de sus hijos y el impulso del humanismo femenino. Isabel sobresale como una figura cultural y política clave, capaz de equilibrar fe, autoridad y modernidad, dejando un legado que selló el rumbo de España y Europa en los siglos posteriores.

This dissertation analyzes the image of Isabella I of Castile as a queen, mostly during the rise of the modern Spanish monarchy. This dissertation focuses on aspects of her childhood, succession to the throne and the power she had, taking into account the consolidation of the religious and jurisdictional units of the State, and her influence in foreign politics through marriage alliances. Furthermore, this dissertation will investigate Isabella I of Castile’s courtly life, the influence of her relationships with other women, as well as her clothing as a symbol of power. Following the same line of investigation, emphasis will be made on her role as a mother and educator, highlighting the influence on her children's education and feminine humanism. Isabella I of Castile outstands as a key cultural and political figure, being able to balance faith, authority, and modernity, leaving a legacy that sealed the course of Spain and Europe in the following decades.
