Marcelina Poncela Ontoria (1864-1917). Una pintora de Valladolid

Abstract

Marcelina Poncela Ontoria (1864-1917), nace en Valladolid, donde estudia Magisterio y se inicia en el aprendizaje artístico en la Escuela de la Academia de Bellas Artes de la Purísima Concepción. A la muerte de su padre, en 1882, se establece en Madrid donde completó estudios de Magisterio y cursó Bellas Artes en la Academia de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado, con la ayuda de las pensiones que la Diputación Provincial de Valladolid y el Ayuntamiento de Valladolid le concedieron. Concurrió a las Exposiciones Nacionales de Bellas Artes donde obtuvo menciones y una consideración de medalla de Tercera clase. También participó en las exposiciones del Círculo de Bellas Artes. Fue la madre del célebre comediógrafo Enrique Jardiel Poncela. Es una de las muchas pintoras olvidadas que trabajaron a finales del siglo XIX e inicios del XX, cuyas figuras se están tratando de recuperar en la actualidad.
