La especificidad de las metáforas sobre las que se suele articular el denominado 'duelo verbal' tan característico del discurso dramático ha de ser muy tenida en cuenta a la hora de traducir un texto de esta naturaleza a otra lengua. Cuando se trata de una obra de Shakespeare, a la dificultad que ya de por sí comporta el traslado de ese tipo de discurso se suma la que a menudo brota del carácter ambiguo de muchas de sus palabras y expresiones. The 'battle of wits', so characteristic of dramatic discourse, is often articulated through specific metaphors. Special care needs to be taken in translating these figures of speech, especially in the case of the works of Shakespeare. That is, in addition to the complexity of translating this type of verbal combat, there exist the difficulties that may arise from the ambiguity of the words and expressions used. This paper looks at a significant example of this kind of language in Much Ado About Nothing, and examines the problems that this poses for the translator
