El objeto de este trabajo es considerar el alto grado de movilidad geográfica que caracteriza a un determinado grupo de mercaderes italianos; especialmente a quienes, generando un amplio tráfico comercial y financiero en las Coronas de Aragón y Castilla, sólo permanecen unos pocos años para hacer negocios y luego regresar a sus lugares de origen o bien desplazarse a otros sitios con un futuro económico más próspero. Este artículo se centra en la familia milanesa de comerciantes Litta, que mantuvieron una estructura de empresas familiares desde el fin de la época medieval y el inicio de la moderna y extendieron sus intereses comerciales a varios puntos de la Península Ibérica mediante su participación en frecuentes operaciones comerciales y crediticias, además de poseer una importante herencia patrimonial, cuyo legado fue transmitido de generación en generación.
This paper considers the high degree of geographical mobility that characterizes a specific group of Italian traders. Those who stayed in Spain for a few years in order to run their trade operations generated large commercial and financial exchanges in the Crowns of Aragon and Castile, and afterwards either returned to their home country or went to other places which had better economic prospects. This paper focuses on the Milan traders' family named Litta, who ran a web of family companies since the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Modem Period. They extended their trading interests throughout several places in the Iberian Peninsula by their participation in many commercial and credit transactions, as well as by owning a considerable patrimonial inheritance, whose legacy was transmitted from generation to generation.
