RT info:eu-repo/semantics/article T1 Desmond Egan's Elegies in the context of Irish poetry A1 Sheerin, Patrick H. A2 Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid K1 FilologĂa Inglesa AB The Irish poet, Desmond Egan, despite having written over a dozen books of poetry and being widely acclaimed in Ireland, America and in many European countries (into whose different languages he has been translated), is practically unknown in Spain. His poetry, of which Elegies is arguably the most representative volume, can be placed inside a tradition of two thousand years of Irish poetry but it also reflects many and varied influences, from Ireland and abroad, as the style and subject matter of his poems show. We feel sure recognition will also come in Spain, but when?
