This article aims to analyse Spanish anticlericalism during the first months of the Revolution of 1868, as it is reflected in some items of the programmes of the Juntas and of the Provisional Government, and in the popular protests in the streets of Madrid in front of the Apostolic Nunciature. The Revolution of 1868 meant a step forward of the secularizing forces and the process of progressive loss of influence of the Church in Spanish society.
