This paper presents a general reflection on U.G.T. during the first Republican two-year period (1931-1933), in the context of the whole Socialist movement. Due to its historical origins and its specific trade-union philosophy, U.G.T. devised a peculiar strategy of its own, in order to help consolidating the Second Republic, backing up the reforms and the socio-labour policies undertaken by the Republican-Socialist Government. The process towards radicalism, initiated by this Socialist trade-union, deeply modified its strategy. The consequences of this process were of paramount importance and meaning.
El presente artículo ofrece una reflexión general de la U.G.T. en el primer bienio republicano (1931-1933), en el contexto de la actuación del movimiento socialista en su conjunto. Por su trayectoria histórica y por el modelo sindical que representaba, la U.G.T. definió una estrategia destinada a consolidar la Segunda República apoyando las reformas y la política sociolaboral del gobierno republicano-socialista. El proceso de radicalización del sindicato socialista modificó su estrategia y produjo consecuencias importantes.
