Abstract

En los datos presentados en el ultimo informe del Programa Internacional para la Evaluación de Estudiantes (PISA) en 2015, se pueden observar los buenos resultados alcanzados por Castilla y León con respecto a la media nacional. Estos resultados contrastan con el nivel de riqueza de la región, el cual se encuentra ligeramente por debajo del promedio nacional. En este trabajo se pretende observar dos de las variables que afectan a los resultados académicos de los alumnos: la titularidad del centro de enseñanza al que asisten y el entorno socioeconómico que les rodea. Puesto que numerosos estudios han hecho énfasis en la relación que existe entre la pertenencia del alumno a un entorno socioeconómico favorecido y su asistencia a un centro de enseñanza privado como causa de las mejores calificaciones en los centros privados, se pretende observar también esta relación. Para ello se realiza un análisis estadístico y se divide a los alumnos según sus calificaciones en cuatro grupos, de mejor a peor calificación. Se concluye que en España y Castilla y León existe una relación entre los resultados académicos obtenidos en el informe PISA según la titularidad del centro y el entorno socioeconómico. Además, podemos observar cómo es posible la existencia de una mayor equidad entre los alumnos y que estos obtengan buenos resultados académicos. Por último, analizando el entorno socioeconómico vemos como la riqueza, por sí sola, no es lo más importante a la hora de obtener buenos resultados académicos, sino en qué se invierte esa riqueza.

In the data submitted in the last report of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2015, the good results achieved by Castilla y León compared with the national average can be observed. These results contrast with the wealth level in the región, which is slightly below of the national average. This report aims to observe two of the variable that affect the academic results of the students: the management of the school that they attend and the socioeconomic backgrounds that surrounds them. Since numerous studies have emphasized the relationship between the student’s belonging to a good socioeconomic backgrounds and their attendance to a private school as the cause of the best marks in private schools, this relationship is also going to be observed. To do this, a statistic analysis is done and students are divided according to their marks in four groups, from best to worst qualification. It is concluded that, in Spain and Castilla y León, there is a relation between the academic results obtained in the PISA report according to the management of the schoool and the socioeconomic background. Moreover, we can observe how it is possible the existence of more equity among students and that they obtain good academic results. Finally, analyzing the socioeconomic backgroud we see how wealth, by itself, is not the most important thing to obtaining good academic results, but in what that wealth is invested.
