La Laus Hispaniae de Isidoro de Sevilla. Contextualización, traducción y comentario

Abstract

El presente trabajo se centra en la contextualización, traducción y comentario de la Laus Spaniae, una alabanza a Hispania realizada por Isidoro de Sevilla en el siglo VII a modo de prólogo de su obra Historia Gothorum. Comenzaremos exponiendo la vida y obra del autor, además de todas las cuestiones que tienen que ver con la Historia Gothorum, obra en la que se encuentra comprendida la Laus Spaniae, para llegar al núcleo de este trabajo, que es la traducción y comentario de la Laus Spaniae. En el comentario se tratan los siguientes aspectos: el tema y el contenido de la alabanza, su estructura, su lengua, las características propias de un exordium realizado a modo de alabanza, su estilo, y las fuentes en las que se inspiró el autor.

This academic work contains the contextualization, translation and commentary of the Laus Spaniae, a praise of Hispania, made by Isidoro de Sevilla in the 7th century as a prologue to his work Historia Gothorum. We will begin by examining the life and work of the author, in addition to all the questions that have to do with the Historia Gothorum, work in which the Laus Spaniae is included, to get to the core of this work, which is the translation and commentary of Laus Spaniae. The commentary deals with the following aspects: the theme and content of the praise, its structure, language, the characteristics of an exordium performed as praise, its style, and the sources that inspired the author.
