La literatura en clase de inglés y su introducción a través de la narrativa juvenil

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se presenta lo que consideramos una justificación para la introducción de la literatura juvenil original como instrumento para la enseñanza del inglés en el aula. Tratamos de exponer los beneficios de la literatura para el aprendizaje del idioma y en concreto de la literatura juvenil, demostrando su posible introducción en el aula a través de una propuesta en base a la obra de J. K. Rowling Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal en su versión original Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, aplicable a 3º de ESO bilingüe a través de una serie de actividades descritas en detalle relativas al contenido del libro, junto con la explicación del proyecto final a la que estas conducen. Pretendemos que los alumnos adquieran interés por la literatura y que, consecuentemente, esto se refleje de forma positiva en su percepción y nivel de inglés.

This paper presents what we consider to be a justification for the introduction of original youth literature as an instrument for teaching English in the classroom. We have tried to expose the benefits literature presents to learn the language and, in particular, those of youth literature, demonstrating its possible introduction into the classroom through a proposal based on J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal, in its original version Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, applicable to a 3rd of ESO bilingual class, through a series of activities described in detail relating to the content of the book, along with the explanation of the final project to which they lead. Our aim is that students acquire an interest in original literature and that, consequently, this is reflected in a positive way in their perception and level of English.
