Desorden, diseminación y dudas. El discurso expositivo del museo en las últimas décadas

Abstract

En los últimos veinte años, el museo ha tenido que hacer frente a las exigencias intelectuales planteadas por las formas de vida contemporáneas y por las prácticas cultas propias de las sociedades postindustriales. Una de las más interesantes ha sido la referida a la manera misma de concebir la presentación de objetos y obras de arte. Este hecho constituye un ejercicio de interpretación que implica significados morales, intelectuales y estéticos que proponen al visitante un discurso determinado; supone una expresión del modo en que los hombres establecen sus relaciones con el saber.

In the last twenty years, museums have had to confront the intellectual demands raised by the contemporary way of life and the cultural practices of post-industrial societies. One of the most interesting of these has been the very way in which the presentation of objects and works of arts is conceived. This constitutes an exercise in interpretation which implies moral, intellectual and aesthetic meanings that offer the visitor a particular discourse; it is an expression of the way in which men establish relationships with knowledge.
