Economía circular: La gestión de la escasez

Abstract

Lograr un equilibrio eficiente entre el desarrollo económico y la conservación medioambiental es sin duda uno de los grandes retos que las sociedades actuales deben afrontar.

Luchar contra el cambio climático al mismo tiempo que se fomenta y mantiene una economía sólida y en expansión, requiere de medidas y actuaciones concretas. La Unión Europea desde su posición de liderazgo internacional deberá abordar la gestión de las mismas y para ello hará uso de una herramienta que se está demostrando más que válida en el tratamiento de dicha problemática: el modelo de economía circular.

Máximo exponente de la gestión eficaz de lo disponible y con una aceptación e implementación cada vez mayor, la economía circular se ha convertido en el patrón de referencia en el tratamiento de los recursos naturales y las materias primas. El carácter transversal que ofrece afectando tanto a los modelos económicos como a los modelos de sostenibilidad ambiental le han convertido en la referencia a aplicar para el logro del objetivo descrito.

Enfrenta el presente trabajo tanto el estudio de la posición de la Unión Europea en relación a este modelo circular, como la implicación de sus ciudadanos en su aplicación y desarrollo.

A través de un trabajo de campo con un claro enfoque en la gestión de la escasez de los recursos naturales en origen, su reutilización y su reciclaje, se logrará conocer la postura de la población respecto al reto de su implantación.

In present times, modern societies are torn between economics and the environment, between development and sustainability. Achieving the balance between both factors will be one of the great challenges they will have to face.

In order to combat climate change and the adverse effects derived from it, while preserving and developing a solid economy, it will be necessary to implement measures in that direction. The European Union will have to assert its influential position at the international level to implement such measures and initiatives. In your hand you will have a tool that is proving its great solvency when it comes to tackling this problem: the circular economy model.

With an increasing presence in global economies and with great acceptance by them, the circular economy has become the main reference for the management of natural resources. Its wide field of action, combining its effects on the economy and environmental conservation alike, make this model the standard to apply to achieve the aforementioned balance.

This work will bring to light both the position of the European Union when it comes to implementing and managing the circular economy model, as well as the involvement and degree of trust of its citizens in it.

Through field work focused on the scarcity of natural resources and raw materials, as well as their recycling, it will be possible to place the position of the population in a real context when it comes to accepting and implementing the circular economy model in their lives.
