Incentivar a las niñas en materias STEM: un reto educativo

Abstract

La brecha de género en el desarrollo de vocaciones STEM en mujeres es una realidad que se observa en todos los niveles del sistema educativo. Incrementando a medida que los cursos avanzan, las diferencias se hacen evidentes sobretodo con la matrícula universitaria en carreras como informática, ingenierías, física o matemáticas donde la representación femenina es escasa. Por tanto, este trabajo se centra en investigar los factores individuales, sociales y escolares que provocan este hecho para, posteriormente, realizar propuestas de intervención fundamentadas en la coeducación con el objetivo de contrarrestarlos y conseguir incrementar la atracción de las niñas de Educación Primaria por los campos STEM. Finalmente, se analizará el impacto de una intervención fundamentada en las teorías e investigaciones recogidas llevada a cabo en un aula real.

The gender gap in the development of STEM vocations in women is a reality that can be seen in the different levels of the educative system. Increasing as the years advance, the differences get evident specially with the registration in university degrees such as computing, engineering, physics or mathematics in which the female representation is scarce. Therefore, this work is focused on investigating the individual, social and scholar factors that provoke this issue in order to, afterwards, design intervention proposals based on the coeducation with the objective of counteracting them and succeeding on increasing the interest of girls towards STEM fields. Finally, the impact of an intervention based on the theories and investigations gathered that has been implemented in a real classroom will be analysed.
