El trabajo analiza las recomendaciones que los Prepósitos Generales de la Compañía de
Jesús, Claudio Acquaviva y Muzio Vitelleschi, hacían desde Roma en las cartas
enviadas en la primera mitad del siglo XVII a los jesuitas afincados en la Provincia del
Paraguay sobre la importancia de la disciplina religiosa, así como sobre los castigos
impuestos a los que la incumplían. También se presenta un recorrido desde los
fundamentos de la orden religiosa regular, pasando por la creación de la Provincia
mencionada, las célebres reducciones guaraníes y la gran labor de la enseñanza
jesuítica.
The work analyzes the recommendations that the Superiors General of the Society of
Jesus, Claudio Acquaviva and Muzio Vitelleschi, made from Rome in the letters sent in
the first half of the 17th century to the Jesuits settled in the province of Paraguay, on the
importance of the religious discipline, as well as on the punishments imposed on those
who violated it. It also presents a journey from the foundations of the regular religious
order, through the creation of the province, the famous Guarani reductions, and the great
work of Jesuit teaching.
