Desigualdad entre países: contrastes entre Corea del Sur y Guatemala

Abstract

El trabajo que se presenta se centra en el análisis de los contrastes entre el desarrollo desigual de dos países, Corea del Sur y Guatemala, seleccionados por pertenecer a regiones geoeconómicas muy distintas: países desarrollados el primero; países en desarrollo, pobres o periféricos el segundo, con el propósito de analizar las causas que motivan las desigualdades entre ambos, mediante la comparación de parámetros o indicadores significativos, y bajo el enfoque de la teoría de las élites extractivas o teoría institucional. Se aplica una metodología hipotético-deductiva que se apoya en las aportaciones teóricas y después avanza en el análisis empírico de los dos países, utilizando técnicas cualitativas (revisión bibliográfica, rastreo de documentos oficiales obtenidos en la Red) y cuantitativas (manejo de datos estadísticos procedentes de fuentes contrastadas sobre población, economía e instituciones políticas para elaborar tablas y gráficos). Se discuten finalmente los resultados y se obtienen las conclusiones, que confirman en general la teoría de inicio.

This paper focuses on the analysis of the contrasts between the uneven development of two countries, South Korea and Guatemala, chosen for being part to very different geoeconomics regions: developed countries the first; developing, poor or peripheral countries the second, with the purpose of analyze the root causes that motivate the inequalities between both, through the comparison of significant parameters or indicators, and under the approach of the theory of extractive elites or institutional theory. Was applied a hypothetical-deductive methodology based on the theoretical contributions and then advances in the empirical analysis of the two countries, using qualitative techniques (bibliographic review, tracking of official documents obtained on the Internet) and quantitative techniques (management of statistical data from of verified sources on population, economy and political institutions to elaborate tables and graphs). Finally, the results are discussed which allows to obtained, conclusions that generally confirm the initial theory.
