Este trabajo intenta analizar en el marco del siglo IV, cuáles fueron los mecanismos que el emperador utilizó a la hora de legitimar su poder. Además, de cómo fueron sus relaciones con otros poderes, como lo eran el Senado, el ejército o la Iglesia. También estudia la llegada del cristianismo y cómo pasó de ser una religión perseguida a tener un papel predominante en el Estado romano y por consecuencia, en la figura imperial.
This paper attempts to analyse in the context of the fourth century, what were the mechanisms that the emperor used when legitimising his power. In addition, it was about their relations with other powers, such as the Senate, the army or the Church. It also analyzes the arrival of Christianity and how it went from being a persecuted religion to having a preponderant role in the roman State as a consolidation of the emperor.
