We carry out a contrastive analysis (English-Spanish) of apple and pear descriptions. A comparable ad-hoc corpus for both fruits was compiled from websites of fruit retail businesses. We analyzed references to texture, i.e. the vocabulary used and the most frequent collocations in both languages. Explanations are characterized by a wide variety and density of terminology used quite straightforwardly to describe texture and mouthfeel sensations with great precision. Textural properties are presented mainly with descriptive adjectives and specific nouns, with a difference in usage depending on the language used and fruit variety being described.es
