Memoria del campo y crisis climática en Intemperie, de Jesús Carrasco

Abstract

Este estudio examina Intemperie (2013) de Jesús Carrasco en el contexto de la narrativa neorrural surgida en España a principios de la década de 2010. La novela, que se convirtió en un fenómeno literario significativo en gran parte debido a su recuperación del lenguaje rural, sigue la historia de un niño sin nombre que huye a través de un paisaje desolado, ayudado por un cabrero que se sacrifica para asegurar su supervivencia. Este trabajo sostiene que Intemperie trasciende la dicotomía entre identidad nacional y preocupaciones globales que caracteriza gran parte de la producción narrativa española reciente. La primera sección explora la conexión de la novela con la tradición literaria rural a través de su lenguaje. La segunda parte analiza sus temas universales, vinculándola a la ecoficción distópica. Al recuperar un léxico rural casi olvidado y abordar las crisis medioambientales, Intemperie establece una nueva relación con la naturaleza que enfatiza la necesidad de prácticas sostenibles para asegurar el futuro de la humanidad.

This study examines Jesús Carrasco's Intemperie (2013) within the context of the neorrural narrative trend that emerged in Spain during the early 2010s. The novel, which became a significant literary phenomenon, follows the story of a nameless boy fleeing through a barren landscape, aided by a goat shepherd who sacrifices himself for the child's survival. While the novel is celebrated for its lyrical revival of rural language, this paper argues that Intemperie transcends the dichotomy between national identity and global concerns that characterizes much of recent Spanish narrative production. The first section of the paper explores the novel’s connection to rural literary tradition through its language. The second part delves into its universal themes, linking it to dystopian eco-fiction. By recovering a nearly forgotten rural lexicon and addressing the looming environmental crises, Intemperie establishes a new relationship with nature that emphasizes the need for sustainable practices to ensure humanity's future.
