Tradición clásica en las églogas incluidas en el Desengaño de amor en rimas (1624) del licenciado Pedro Soto de Rojas

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es buscar las fuentes, primerias o transmitidas secundariamente, de la tradición literaria clásica presente en las cinco églogas del poemario intitulado Desengaño de amor en rimas del licenciado y poeta granadino Pedro Soto de Rojas. Dado el carácter bucólico de estas composiciones eglógicas, nos centraremos especialmente en analizar la tradición que empezó Teócrito de Siracusa pero que, sobre todo, fundamentó Virgilio, acudiendo a sus textos para comprender las referencias intertextuales que a ellos hace Soto en el Desengaño. Tangencialmente, analizaremos otras referencias cuya fuente primaria la constituyen Ovidio, Plinio el Viejo y Plutarco. Veremos también el contacto entre esta literatura de Soto y otras, vernáculas y clásicas, especialmente con aquella de Garcilaso, por la cual se ve principalmente influido y con la de Cervantes, contemporáneo suyo.

The aim of this work is to search the sources, primary or secondarily transmitted, of the classical literary tradition present in the five eclogues of the poetry collection Desengaño de Amor en Rimas written by the graduate and poet, Pedro Soto de Rojas from Granada. Given the bucolic nature of this type of poetic composition, our attention will be specially focused on analysing the tradition that Theocrytus of Siracuse initiated but that, above all, Vergil substantiated. We will do so by referring to their texts so as to understand the intertextual references that Soto includes in the Desengaño. Tangentially, we will analyse other references whose primary source is in Ovid, Pliny the Elder and Plutarch. We will also examine the connection between Soto´s literature and other literary traditions, both vernacular and classical, specially that of Garcilaso, by whom Soto is especially influenced, and that of Cervantes, his contemporary.
