Zusammenfassung
The aim of this paper is to offer some insights into the relationship among self, experience,
and place. In this regard, I will deepen both the relationship between the human
being and the place and the consequent concept of home (oikos). In order to clarify these
concepts, I will rely mainly on Arne Næss, mainly focusing on the process of identification.
Once explained this relationship between the self and the environment (place), I will
address, in the last part, a critique of genetic and epigenetic determinism with regard to
the constitution of the self.
