La lengua quechua, referente insustituible de la vida y obra de José María Arguedas

Abstract

El etnocentrismo, criterio predominante durante la conquista y colonización de América, se traduce, en el caso del quechua, en su suturación a la alteridad de la lengua española, en el sometimiento al olvido de su historia oral, de su escritura y en la imposibilidad de convertirse, en la etapa posterior a la colonización, en lengua válida de comunicación a nivel nacional. Éste es el bagaje lingüístico que Arguedas hereda y contra el que se apresta a librar diferentes batallas a través de su obra literaria. Como las innovaciones lingüísticas de nuestro autor constituyen, implícitamente, una representación literaria de su visión de la nación, al no encontrar solución para la realidad lingüística del Pero, el fracaso de esta utopía se hará sentir, al final de su vida, fracturando definitivamente su mundo lingüístico y literario.

The ethnocentrism, prevailing criteria during America's conquest and colonization has been translated, in the case of the Quechua language, in the submission of the same language to the alterity of the Spanish language, in the forgetfulness of its oral history, of its writing and in the impossibility of converting, following the colonization, into a valid language of communication at international level. This is the linguistic baggage that Arguedas inherits and against which he prepares himself to battle idealistically through his literary work. Due to the fact that, for our author, the linguistic innovations constitute a literary representation of his vision of nation, not finding any solutions with regards to the Peruvian linguistic situation, the failure of this utopia will manifest, at the end of his life, in the definitive fracture of his linguistic and literary world.
