The principal obstacle of historical research on the oppidum and the Roman city of Consabura, is documentation very short (literary, epigraphic, archaeological and documentary). However, the geostrategic situation of this core (of order of the passages between the rivers Tajo and Guadiana) was decisive probably and determine with its historical evolution. Only thus one would understand some data, certainly astonishing, present in the archaeological and epigraphic documentation of Consabura. Therefore, to deepen it some elements obliges us to reflect already traditional postulates (the ordering and occupation of the territory) and to analyze with certain prudence of others (the process of municipality); although, this work does not want to be that an advance.
El principal obstáculo con el que hemos tropezado en la investigación histórica del oppidum y de la ciudad romana de Consabura, es la escasa documentación (literaria, epigráfica, arqueológica y documental). No obstante, veremos como posiblemente la situación geoestratégica de éste núcleo (control de los pasos entre los ríos Tajo y Guadiana) fue decisiva y determinante en su evolución histórica. Sólo de esta manera, se entendería algunos datos, -ciertamente sorprendentes-, presentes en la documentación arqueológica y epigráfica Consaburense. De este modo, ahondar en algunos aspectos nos obliga ya, a replantearnos algunos postulados ya clásicos (control y ucupación del territorio) y analizar con cierta cautela otros (proceso de municipalización); aunque, este trabajo sólo pretende ser un avance.
