Propuesta educativa para la enseñanza de la física y química desde el papel de la mujer científica en estudiantes de 4º ESO

Abstract

Este Trabajo Fin de Máster pretende contribuir a mejorar la visibilidad del papel de la mujer científica durante la enseñanza en la etapa educativa de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria. Para ello, se han elaborado tres actividades que se podrían realizar en el aula con alumnos de cuarto curso en la asignatura de Física y Química sobre la mujer científica, así como el desarrollo y la evaluación de cada una de ellas. También, se analiza la percepción que tienen los 53 alumnos del nivel educativo elegido del Colegio San José-Jesuitas de Valladolid sobre la contribución de la mujer en la Ciencia, usando un cuestionario elaborado de forma original y propia sobre este tema y su relación con la importancia de tener referentes científicos femeninos para la elección de estudios futuros. Esto se ha realizado tras la observación de la poca importancia que se le da a la mujer en la sociedad y sobre todo en el ámbito de las Ciencias, y después de una revisión bibliográfica percibiéndose que las aportaciones de las mujeres al progreso científico y tecnológico han sido poco referenciadas o incluso históricamente minusvaloradas teniendo en cuenta su relevancia. Los resultados demuestran que los alumnos y alumnas no conocen suficientes científicas y que su ausencia en los libros de textos puede ser un motivo de la falta de interés de las alumnas por carreras del ámbito científico, junto con la errónea creencia de que solo sirven para profesiones relacionadas con el rol de cuidados, subestimándolas e infravalorándolas frente a las carreras STEM. Asimismo, al final del trabajo se dejan varias líneas de investigación abiertas y perspectivas futuras para poder continuar con esta línea de estudio.

This Master´s Thesis has the objective of improving the visibility of the role of the female scientist in education during the education stage of Secundary Compulsory Education. With that goal, three activities about scientific women, as well as the development and evaluation of each of them, that could be carried out in the classroom with fourth year students in the subject of Physics and Chemistry have been developed. Moreover, it is analysed the perception of the 53 students of the educational stage chosen of the San José-Jesuitas High School of Valladolid about the contribution of women in Science, by making use of an original self-made questionnaire about this topic and the relevance of having female scientists referents in the choice of future studies and career paths. It was done after observing the little importance that women are giving in society and particularly in the scientific field, and after a literature review noticing that the contributions of women to scientific and technological progress have been rarely referenced and historically they even have been undervalued given their relevance. The results show that the students do not know enough female scientists and that their absence in textbooks could be a cause of the lack of interest of the female students in degrees of the scientific field, together with false belief that they are only made for careers related to caregiving, underestimating anda underestimating them against STEM careers. Furthermore, several lines of investigation are left open at the end of this thesis, as well as future perspectives that could be pursued in this line of study.
