Resumen
We live in an age of technological civilization. We often interact and relate to others via technological
platforms in which we exchange data. In this sense, technology has become our environment
(Valera, 2020), one in which we are inserted at every moment – in most cases independently
of our decisions – and which constantly surrounds us.
Clearly, such dwelling in technological environments has generated some ethical and legal concerns,
to the extent that interactions between people have become more persistent and closer
(Valera, 2021). If we also consider that technologies can affect or impact us from within, modifying
us from our very organic constitution, other ethical and legal concerns emerge. This is the case
with cognitive enhancement (CE), whereby we can intervene (through digital technologies or
drugs) with our brain to enhance some cognitive faculties. A large body of international scientific
literature has recently developed around this topic, both at the ethical and legal levels
